Washington D.C. Oct. 2011

The original purpose of this trip was for Heather to visit her college roommate Sheryl. When we found out Sheryl would be at work 2 of the 4 days I decided to go too!

Wednesday:
The White House
Georgetown

My friend Ellen James who is the scheduler for Senator Mike Lee  helped us get tickets for the White house and sent her husband, Rick, who also works for the Senator, to take care of our stuff while we went in for a self-guided tour (guided would have been better) and then pick us up and take us to our next destination (Georgetown). She said "anything for the constituents!"
Ellen suggested lunch at Filomena's. Good call.
Seafood stuffed manacotti with lobster sauce. Sometimes we forget to take pictures til the food is half gone!

The famous Georgetown cupcake. We actually bought ours at Crumbs and of course ate it before we took a picture!
Thursday:
The Capital building
Good Stuff
3 art museums
Girl movie (Monte Carlo)

Me and Ellen James before our private tour of the capital.

There is supposed to be something lucky about this spot but I can't remember what!

Toasted Marshmallow shake from Good Stuff.  SO good! Much better than it sounds!

Right about here, in the modern art museum, is where my camera died for the trip!

 Friday:
Washington DC temple
Les Madeline's
Harper's Ferry
Pentagon memorial
Capitol at night
Martin Luther King memorial
Ben's Chili Bowl.

Sheryl sent me these pictures of us at Harper's Ferry and Ben's chili bowl, yay!

Ellen, Sheryl, Carol

Here we are at Ben's Chili Bowl, I guess it is famous on the food network or something. Chili, chili burger, chile dogs, chili fries- definitely guy food. We got here about 11 PM-not in the best neighborhood. Heather did an awesome parallel parking job on the street. After people kept honking and swearing at Ellen she put Heather in the driver's seat. The seat I am sitting in is the one President Obama sat when he ate there. Gary said "I would not have sat there!"
